K - getting more teeth? It's hard to say, although the Hyland's teething tablets do seem to help a bit. Kelly also has a cold or some kind of allergy issue - his nose has been running. It's not really slowing him down, though. Thankfully, his naps have gone from 20 minutes to almost an hour, twice a day usually. He eats solid food, but not much. His favorites are cereal and broccoli, but 99% of his nutrition is still milk. He's ALL about his daddy, and his big brothers aren't bad either. He'll cry if they leave the room and shiver with joy if they come to hold him. He's crawling with great speed, standing quickly and easily, cruising all over, and yesterday he really did take a step twice. I think he's got a while to go, though, before real walking.
R is taking a break from toilet training. Initially, he had a lot of success, with only a few accidents, but after the first week, it kind of fell apart. We reached the point at which he was missing more than he was making, so we decided to take a break. I'm not sure when we'll start again. I'm wondering if he'll bring it up in the next couple of weeks. If not, I will.
More than any other activity, R likes to head out to the driveway for trike-riding. He's fast. Monday and Tuesday, F was here for an overnight and they spent a lot of time out there riding - F on the big wheel. We've also been biking around on my (new!) bike. I tried both littles in the trailer, but Kelly just slouches and falls without a more rigid seat. So, I found a bike seat for him that's mounted on the handlebars. It's really great - he's basically right between my arms, directly in front of me. It actually seems a lot safer than any other way of taking a baby around for a bike ride. The seat is also ok for R (goes to 40 lbs), who of course loves to sit in it. So, we've taken a few rides with just the two of us, as well. On Monday night, I had K in front, R and Fboth in the trailer. It was a workout!
je: Soccer skills soaring - I think he's scored at least one goal in each of his games, and his team is undefeated. He usually practices with Jamie's team as well as his own. He'd like to run track, but I haven't seen anything in the paper. I will have to call the man in charge of it. J has been taking fish oil, and we both think it's helping with his concentration. He's been finishing up his book work every day with time to spare and minimal suffering. As much as he'd rather not do it, it's clear that he's proud of his work and how easily he can get through his math, in particular.
jamie: art lessons are over until fall, his soccer team is doing well and he's enjoying playing as always. He can't get enough soccer through the week, so he's been practicing with Je's team. J's had a lot more independence this year, biking all over town, meeting with friends, etc.
mother's day: lovely. Evan made a fabulous brunch, Grammy/Grandpa came, we attended Women Stand for Peace at the community center, and Dorothy and I went out for a shopping trip, the likes of which I have never quite experienced. It would be an understatement to say that The Grammy was generous at Kohl's... I think we've covered the next two birthdays and Christmases. I tried to find a picture online of this most wonderful skirt that we found, but I can't... I will have to take a picture soon to post. I'm not sure what it is, but for some reason this year there are clothes in style that I really actually like! Here is a dress, though - obviously not the best shot but you get the idea.
To finish, look at this adorable Mother's Day card:
I can't believe how much Ryan looks like the big boys now! You look great in that dress - it must be all that bike riding! Glad you had a good mother's day. :)
