Fibertrends Back Zip Sweater, in Lamb's Pride worsted - the red is a nice deep red, no tat all pinkish as the picture seems, and the yellow is more golden than it looks. I think it's going to be a very nice sweater, but I'm going to need to add length after the fact. The pattern is garter rib - any suggestions for what to add to the bottom for length?
The sweater will not likely be finished by March, but nearly after. I'm pretty happy with the results on the color work - I've never done it before. I'm afraid it will be more snug in the shoulders than J likes, and the Lamb's Pride is a bit scratchy at the neck. Any suggestions for getting the shoulders and upper arms a bit larger would be welcome. I'd also be fine with suggestions for ungrowing pre-teen boys.
Project Spectrum starts this month. The colors are blue, grey and white. I've been meaning to post some pictures of favorite household things or spaces, sort of like Soulemama's Corners Of My Home posts.
This is a linen kitchen towel I found at a garage sale. There are several, but I especially like this one. I even like to iron it sometimes.
In related news, I have planned a greyish-black and white knitting project - just waiting for yarn to arrive. Two hints: 1- it comes from the first Stitch 'n Bitch, and 2 - no matter how sure I am that the Sweater-a-Month KAL is unrealistic, it has certainly lit a bit of a fire under my sweater-shy self.
The other ribbed hat fits the three bigger boys, so I thought I'd make another. This one isn't actually as great as the first - a bit bulkier and not as soft - but it does the job.
but don't get any big ideas about my keeping up with the monthly-sweater over-achievers ;-)
This sweater has serious problems, but I'm accepting them. The yarn is awesome - it's cotton without a name - I bought it on ebay last year. It's too big for K and too small for R. This is how I knit.
Speaking of knitting without plans, I recently borrowed Unexpected Knitting from the library. Wowee, what a brilliant mind. Really, there is not a thing in the book I want to knit, but the art is just genius.
These are in no particular order...
ok, I'm sensing a pattern as I make this list. A few of these things were definitely not a success from my pov, but then Jamie adopted them and they became favorites. This is the first in that category.
1. It's a lousy photo, but the clapotis was fun to knit and looked good. Unfortunately, the skin on my neck is just way too sensitive for anything with wool at all. But Jamie likes it.
2. Another mistake-turned-success, hat that was meant for a smaller head. Fortunately, my bigger headed son likes it.

3. hood from vintage pattern - I'm not so sure what was my big idea making a hat like this in newborn size, since he was born in the middle of summer.... so again, it all turned out ok. Maybe I should just never plan.
4. Amber hat - In the same post are a pair of orange socks that have seen a lot of wear this year, too. This hat might be the nicest-looking thing I've ever knit, in person. Photos really don't do this one justice.
7. bibs - not complicated, but definitely useful this year for little faucet boy.
8. booties - these are getting lots of use

I made two of these for Ryan and pulled them both out. The thumb was just too weird. I thought it was my finishing, but I did it twice and got the same wonky result. I decided to go with a different pattern, and different yarn. Pictures of those to come soon.
